Electric Oil Shear Brakes
The Electro Shear® 8700 Series Oil Shear Motor Brakes are AC electric released, spring applied, three phase AC electric, multiple disc, oil shear motor brakes that deliver precise control, repeatable stopping power and quick response time in the harshest manufacturing environments. High thermal capacity eliminates machine downtime and decreases overall maintenance and repair costs.
AC Brake Coil Technology For Precise Response and Repeatability
The Electro Shear® is the only oil shear brake with a totally encapsulated electromagnetic AC coil for superior response and accurate repeatability. The patented AC coil is extremely efficient, has low inertia and provides fast response time, typically 10 milliseconds. Electro Shear® delivers precise, smooth stopping power consistently over the life of the brake.

Superior Heat Dissipation
A well designed, cast aluminum housing and a continuous oil flow through the brake disc stack cools and lubricates discs allowing the heat build up from engagement to dissipate through the housing. Electro Shear® brakes keep performing where other electric brakes fail, reducing the need for frequent, costly repairs. Electro Shear® will eliminate brake downtime and reduce operating costs year after year, cycle after cycle.

Simple Installation, One Piece Assembly
Electro Shear® brakes are delivered from the factory fully assembled and are easily installed on the rear C-flange of a NEMA standard motor. The brake is installed as one, integral piece - no loose pieces, no assembly required. Foot mounted, thru shaft and custom bores are available.
